There will also be an optional tour of the church after the conference.
Firearms Training Simulator
On August 8, the day before the conference, there is an optional opportunity to experience Central’s Firearms Training Simulator for an additional $50 per hour. You can register for the simulator during registation.

Col. David Grossman
"Biblical History of Protectors in the Church"

Col. Grossman is an Airborne Ranger infantry officer, and a prior-service sergeant and paratrooper, with a total of over 23 years experience in leading U.S. soldiers worldwide. He retired from the Army in February 1998 and has devoted himself full-time to teaching, writing, speaking, and research.
Today Col. Grossman is the director of Grossman On Truth, LLC (www.GrossmanOnTruth.com). In the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, he has written and spoken extensively on the terrorist threat, with articles published in the Harvard Journal of Law and Civil Policy and many leading law enforcement journals, and he has been inducted as a “Life Diplomate” by the American Board for Certification in Homeland Security, and a “Life Member” of the American College of Forensic Examiners Institute.

Chuck is the founder and president of the National Organization for Church Security and Safety Management™ which has helped thousands of churches throughout America with security and safety issues that concern all churches both large and small.
He is the licensed security manager and president of Gatekeepers Security Services™ whose Gatekeepers Program™ has put hundreds of armed Gatekeepers in churches across Texas.
He is also the president of the Christian Security Institute™ which is a state licensed armed security school which trains, certifies and licenses church security operators.
Chuck was the past Director of Security for several Mega churches in Texas
His four decades of private security experience, including two decades in the Church security field enables him to address the unique security issues faced by churches of all sizes.

Dr. Sean Lawler

Dr. Sean Lawler earned his Doctor of Management degree from Colorado Technical University where he concentrated in Homeland Security Studies. Dr. Lawler’s doctoral research focused on methods by which school administrators may disrupt an active shooter event or terrorist attack upon an American school. Dr. Lawler graduated from Strayer University in 1994 with a Master of Science Degree in Business Administration and he is a 1992 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, where he studied engineering, counterterrorism, and national security and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science. Dr. Lawler currently serves as an Academy Liaison Officer for the US Air Force Academy, Area 431, where he mentors and interviews USAFA applicants.
Sean Lawler is a Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) with the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). SSA Lawler has conducted international narcotics investigations in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area, and he is currently the Chief of DEA’s Aviation Division Training. SSA Lawler serves as a DEA Primary Firearms Instructor, Tactical Instructor, Emergency Medical Technician, and Active Shooter Defense Instructor. Prior to joining the DEA, SSA Lawler was a Major in the US Air Force, where he served as an Instructor Pilot providing primary flight instruction for Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and allied foreign national student pilots. Major Lawler participated in numerous deployments to European, Asian, and Middle Eastern areas of operation where he served as a KC-10A Aircraft Commander providing combat support for enforcement of Iraqi no-fly zones, humanitarian relief missions, and the first-ever combat air-refueling of the B-2 stealth bomber during the Kosovo Campaign. Prior to that, Sean Lawler was a Human Intelligence (HUMINT) Case Officer and Combat Interrogator. While serving in HUMINT collections, Sean Lawler was a recipient of the Director of Central Intelligence National Exceptional Intelligence Collector’s Award.
Dr. Sean Lawler is a regular speaker at the National Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) Conference. ALERRT is based at Texas State University and was named as the National Standard in Active Shooter Response Training by the FBI. Additionally, Dr. Lawler is a regular speaker for school safety and security conferences, including the National Student Safety & Security Conference and the Educational Services Center Region 11 Conference.
Michael Abernathy

Mike Abernethy is the Director of Safety and Security for Central Baptist Round Rock. Utilizing his 12 years as a firefighter in the 13th largest department in the United States and his 6 years of experience in the US Coast Guard’s Deployable Specialized Forces and Intelligence communities, Mike helped build Central’s Safety Ministry from the ground up. Mike’s experience includes deployments to Iraq (OIF 2009), Haiti (Operation Unified Response), Texas Southern Border, involvement with his fire department’s Active Attack Rescue Task Force, and 8 years at one of the top 3 busiest fire stations in his department.
Mike has been married to the love of his life for 16 years and has three kids (ages 16, 13, and 9). He spends his free time being a taxi service to his kids, coaching them in their sports from the stands, and loving on his wife. Mike’s heart is for making Central’s Safety Ministry a home for veterans and first responders in the church and for folks who don’t fit in with traditional church ministries.

Officer James Norton has served as a Round Rock PD Officer since 2019. He currently serves as an active SWAT Team member, Sniper, ALERRT Active Killer response instructor, Threat Liaison Officer, and Field Training Officer.
