I seems as though a lot of people on church security teams put all their eggs in one basket. That is, the only training they get is going to the range and practice handgun skills. That’s what I call “During the Bang” skills. Don’t get me wrong, your handgun skills are the most important to be adept at. I say that because if there was ever a skill that needs to be perfect it’s when you might actually have to use your deadly weapon. But …. It might be worth your time, at least a couple of hours, to develop other skills that might help you both “Before” the Bang and “After” the Bang.
“After” the Bang would be skills like the Stop the Bleed program. “Before” the Bang skills are skills like Threat Recognition, Hardening your Church/School, Proactive Intelligence, etc.
Gatekeepers/NOCSSM has a YouTube channel that has conference session videos that cover skills that are worth your time to explore. I know it’s not like watching Fast and Furious 37 and can be rather drab. But it might be worth a hour or two of listening to develop a skill that might help keep you from using that “During” the Bang skill.
